How did you find out about Decentraland and what was it that attracted you to the virtual world?

Early 2019, I was looking for jobs in game design because I was fresh out of university and randomly stumbled upon an article about Decentraland and decided to investigate further. I really liked the idea of decentralized governance of a game and decided to pay closer attention to it. A couple months after that, Decentraland announced a hackathon which I decided to participate in and that got me into the ecosystem. I never left.

What were you doing/creating before you discovered the metaverse? Was it difficult to adapt your skills to this new ecosystem?

I was working on games and 3D art as a hobby and working a job unrelated to the video game industry. If you are familiar with the normal 3D pipeline, transitioning to Decentraland isn’t much of a hurdle.

What was your very first Decentraland experience and creation? When was this?

That was a submission to a Decentraland hackathon contest in 2019. I teamed up with Rob Dixon and we won the contest, giving us 200k MANA. Which sounds like a lot but at the time it was about 5000 dollars, which I unfortunately didn’t HODL.

What is your specialty – or the thing you enjoy doing most – and what would you say is your ‘career highlight/s’ to date?

I enjoy creating engaging worlds and communities. Currently I’m the art director for Wonderzone, a popular place in Decentraland, which allows me to do just that. However I think my career highlight in Decentraland is probably the Wonderbot.

What advice would you give to anyone wanting to be a wearables creator in the metaverse? What sort of tools or experience do they need?

I think above all it is important to take your time and do the wearables well. I see a lot of wearables that were rushed through or they use an excessive amount of emissive to cover up inadequacies in the design. But If you take your time and make solid wearables I think you will be rewarded.

Five years from now what will digital wearables and fashion be like in Decentraland and the broader metaverse?

Absolutely no idea, hopefully something grand!
